I am agonizing over what rooms to book on Grand Princess to Mediterannean. Has anyone booked the rooms at the very back of the ship? (I am sure there is proper terminology for this position on a ship, but I am new to this!)
Are there drawbacks or advantages to these rooms and their views? Do you feel more vibration/noise/fumes? I am unable to find any real pictures that show a view of the stern of the ship. Can anyone point me to a site that does?
I haven't been on the Grand yet (April 16 repositioning/transatlanatic), but in general the "cabins in the back" are called aft balcony cabins (usually balcony) and I think they are fabulous. Some people love them (like me), and some people just don't see the allure. The balcony is usually much bigger than on a side cabin, and I love the wide panoramic view you get. I have never noticed any vibrations or fumes, but have not been on a lower level where they would be noticeable.
Word of warning: book very early to get one of these cabins as they are usually the first to go. Good luck!
Some of the best cabins on all ships are in the aft. Go for it! If you are afraid they may be noisy, bring ear plugs along just to be safe. You won't use them, though. I find the cabins from midships to the rear to ride smoother on the big ships. True, also, the cabins down lower in the ship do ride smoother. The Grand is one of my favorite ships and I know you will have a great time.
