Snorkeling

Going on the Caribbean Princess week of April 23. Is there snorkeling at the Princess Cays beach day? How is it? Can anyone reccommend snorkeling tours in St. Maarten and St. Thomas? What tours did you take?

Don't bother with a snorkling tour in St Thomas , just take a taxi to Coki beach. Or ferry and taxi to St Jons Island. Check out " ports " board and get more info on St Johns and Trunk bay, there are detailed instructions and costs there for getting to these beaches( it is easy so don;t worry.
Princess Cays has some snorkling, we saw some fish, just can't say it was great, water was a bit cloudy the day we were there last time, and the time before it was clear, but , we found the bottom quite bare so not alot of fish hang out there.There were some though.
St Marten we went to Orient Bay beach, absolutely lovely, no snorkling though, may be take a snorkling tour on that stop.

In St. Thomas you will find some really good snorkeling. Coki Beach has good snorkeling, personally i think its worth the trip to catch the ferry over to St. John Island,i think the snorkeling is better over there - go to this web site for some great info -www.vinow.com.You can do it on your own.
St. Maarten - if you want good snorkeling i would recommend booking a ships tours to Pineal Island or look into the Golden Eagle Catamaran- this tour is great fun - you sail on this beautiful Catamaran up the coast - gorgeous - you sail over to Tintamar Island which is a natural preserve, you can swim, snorkel (the guides feed the fish) the water was very clear when we went, saw lots of fish, you can relax on the beach.
Princess Cays - didn't snorkel here, just wanted to veg-out and have a beach day, saw a few folks in the water snorkeling.
