Does anyone know what the 'vacant space' (shown as white on the brochure deck plans) on Deck #9 and #8, aft, represent? We are interested in an aft (stern facing) cabin and wonder what goes on in this 'white space'. Does anyone know what is in this area? We heard it might be a vent of some sort.
All of the vacant white spaces on all deck plans are off limits to passengers. This is where in inner workings of the ship take place. These white spaces could contain stair cases for the employees, elevators for luggage, pantrys, cabins for staff, laundry and dry cleaning areas, smoke stacks, electrical wiring, airconditioning ducts, and so on.
You will love the Sapphire, it is one of the newest Grand Class ships and is huge. The aft cabins are wonderful or else they would not put the suites in that location. I had D737 on the Sapphire last fall and it was one of the best cabins I have ever had.
