Hi Cynda: we were on the Diamond (sister ship) and did the Mexican Riviera. Great itinerary. In Puerto Vallarta, we took a cab downtown to do a little shopping, walked along the waterfront, then headed back to the ship for lunch and shopped the flea market across from the ship. The flea market carried most of what you'd find downtown and we did pick up some great bargains. We purchased leather duffle bags, silver bracelets and turquoise necklaces, billfolds, t-shirts and darling sundresses for the grand daughter. Oh...and purses!

Mazetlan - we took the shopping, beach and lunch ship excursion. It was great fun. If you don't like a structured day, hop a cab to the Gold Zone for some shopping and have lunch at Poncho's. You'll see alot of cruise passengers there. It has a view of the ocean and you can have a cervaza and watch people parasail. Food was very good.

We took the sailiing/snorkeling excursion (offer thru the ship) on a racing catamaran "the Tropicat". Beautiful vessel. Staff on the tour were lots of fun. My husband doesn't snorkel, so sat with some of the crew on the vessel and had a few of the best marguarita's we've every tasted. A Mexican buffet was served after snorkeling and marguaritas were available (included in the cost of the tour). We also sailed around Los Arcos and saw a sea lion colony. I don't think that was part of the tour, but we had such a fun crew and group of passengers we didn't want it to end. The only thing I missed was shopping in Cabo. We didn't have time to go into town, but have about 30 minutes to check out the flea market at the pier and catch our tender to the ship. I wish the ship spent more time in this location. It seemed too short.

If you have any specific questions, please feel free to ask. Oh...if this is your first time cruising this itinerary - pack a sweatshirt or warm up suit for the trip home. We sailed the Mexican Riviera three times at different times of the year and always found it chilly on the trip back to LA.

We're looking at Spring break next April..entire family....kids are 11, 15, and 17.
So can I get more info on the ship, and Princess in general? We've cruised twice before but not on Princess....

Susie
How many people were on your snorkle trip. I have always heard that the ship excursions have loads of people on the bus or boats?

Too bad we're not going at the same time, my boys are 11 and 15. We are going on the last week of a triad, so all their work will be turned in and they won't miss anything new. We've cruised Princess, Royal Caribbean and Carnival. Princess has always been a favorite for me and DH, but this is the first time we've taken the kids on this line. Hoping they have a good experience.

The "Tropicat" held quite a few people. I'd guess around 40-50 or so. Plenty of room for everyone on those on the excursion. There was a open air cabin a few steps down in the center of the catamaran with restrooms and tables and benches for those who prefered a seat rather than sit on deck.

yes, we've been twice....easy cruise becuz we dont have to fly anywhere..we live in Ventura Count, Ca. enjoyed it both times...this time we are taking our son that is developmentally delayed...this will be his 2nd cruise, he went with us last year to Alaska. You wil enjoy the cruise. we've been in November and May - both times were hot...very hot...Had the best lobster in a little tiny restaurant in Cabo San Lucas, hope we can find it again...

We also are doing this cruise because we don't want to fly. We live in Western Riverside County, CA. I've never been past Ensenada, so we're really looking forward to this trip. I think the boys (we are also bringing our sons 11 & 15) are going sport fishing in Cabo, so I will do a little shopping or hang out on the beach.

I am looking into this cruise for April, 2006. We have always crusied on HAL, so this will be our first Princess Cruise. I notice you all have children. We don't. Are there a lot of children cruising this line? Really don't mind, just curious!

I have only cruised once, but it was on Princess on their 7 day Mexican Riviera cruise 3 years ago on the Sea Princess.

We had a full passenger load of about 2000 people, and I remember the director of childrens' activities (forgot the exact title) commenting that there were 75 minors onboard. This sounded like a small number to me, but others on the cruise who were Princess regulars said that Princess tends to attrat older crowds and Carnival younger crowds.

Take it for what it's worth...

We use to live in Moreno Valley before we moved to Port Hueneme 9 years ago. You and your family will have a great time on this cruise. We are counting the days.....how did you do the countdown?

Cynda: When in Puerto Vallarta take the bus downtown. It's an exciting and fun trip and only costs 50 cents. Just walk outside the port and catch the blue and white bus. Also hold on tight.

I went to My Profile. I did it a while back and don't remember exactly, but I believe that it's explained somewhere on the message boards in more detail. Were you stationed at March AFB before it closed?

I think there is a post somewhere in Practical Advice about how to do the clock. We're going on 10/1/05. I'm really gettting worried that I picked the wrong date because no one has responded to the Roll Call. I really want my kids to have a good time. I guess it's still pretty hot there in Oct., but we're from Southern Calif. so heat doesn't bother me much, especially if there is a pool or the beach nearby. Hopefully it all works out. We did E. Carib last year in Nov. and it rained in every port...all day...I'm hoping not to repeat a vacation like that.

We will be doing this cruise in March 06 with other family members. It will be fun having extended family take the cruise with us.

I am also going on this cruise 17-Dec-2005. We will have 15 of us; 8 adults with 7 kids (22, 19, 15, 15, 15, 12, 9) I did a cruise on Princess in the Caribbean a few years ago and don't remember that many kids (probably because I didn't have mine with me!) This December cruise is when the kids are out of school so there will probably be more families.

Can't wait!

We are doing this cruise on March 11, 2006. At this point we have 4 cabins booked. Kids are aged, 3,3, 9, and 15.

We have done the Mexican Riviera before, but not with the twins, or the 9 year old. We are looking to have a great time.

Hey, Does anyone know if there is usually a good amount of college students cruising the Mexican Riviera with Princess during Spring Break (Mar. 11-18) ?
