Does anyone can provide me some feedback about the Plaza deck. I took cabin P234 on the CP because of the unobstructed view. It is my first cruise and people now tell me that the lower decks are not recommended. I am wondering if I made a mistake.
Our friends were on the Plaza deck on the Sun Princess, they liked it so well that they booked it again for March 06. We have been on lower decks on other cruise lines and we liked the cabins. You really don't feel the motion that you do on the top floors. Our friends book an inside cabin and they like that too. Don't worry about it, if you find that you don't like the deck then the next time you can choose elsewhere. Have a great time and enjoy your cruise, its just around the corner!!!
I think it goes back to the old days and the first passenger ships when the rich people were up on top and the poor were down in the bottom. Trust me, eliane, these cruise ships are floating cities and are beautiful from top to bottom. My personal preference is the lower decks because of feeling less motion, I always get a cabin as low as I can and as center as I can because you don't feel much motion there. Some people like being up top because it is closer to the pools and sun decks, but with all the elevators, that has never been a problem for me. I haven't been on Caribbean Princess, but I have been on the Grand and the Golden. You have picked a wonderful cruiseline and you are going to have the time of your life. I envy you. Enjoy every minute!
Plaza deck on Princess ships is not bad at all. I sail single frequently, end up on Plaza
and don't mind it at all. I'm on Plaza for 21 days in Sept. on the Sea Princess.
One thing I like about Princess compared to other cruise ships, Plaza has public rooms as well as cabins so when you walk out of your cabin you are near public areas, see other people. I've been on lower decks other cruise lines and you do feel isolated and way far from signs of life, let alone having to walk forever.
One more plus of the lower decks is that they are often the deck that the gangway is on in ports.....you can be the first off the ship, come and go often all day, without making a big project out of it!
I've sailed more than 25 times and had cabins in every part of the ships, but really enjoy the lower decks. And, if you have an oceanview cabin, you're closer to the water and it's fun to see the "action of the ocean".
When we book an inside cabin we always try to get Plaza deck. For us one nice advantage was being so close to all the shows, casino, sports bar, shops, etc. Also on port day's it is nice to walk on the ship and up one flight of stairs and be home! For me another advantage is the coffe bar on the Grand class ships in the Atrium on Plaza deck. Great coffee and comfy seats with big windows to look out to sea. Since we had an inside I'd go there to get my coffee and sit and relax a bit to start my day.
