Default Caribbean/Crown vs Grand Princess Where do the extra pax go

My wife and I are doing some pre-pre-planning and looking at one of the Crown Princess cruises out fo San Juan in Nov or Dec 2006.

My concern is that the only extra space I see on deck plans is an extra deck of cabins.

The dining rooms, pool areas, showrooms and lounges all look the same as on the Grand Princess.

How do they fit the extra 500 pax into the dining rooms and such? Is it that much more crowded than the Grand? or am I missing something?

Had friends who sailed CP.. who are big fans of Grand and Golden... and they commented on how the extra passengers did impact on more crowded public spaces onboard, especially the pools and showroom.

Should be expected really.... more passengers in the same basic space.

I was on the Star and had friends who went on the Caribbean Princess. As I recall they added a Riviera deck and over 200 extra cabins. We both took PC dining. The Star we never waited more than 15 minutes. On Caribbean Princess our friends once waited 35 minutes. They said it seemed a bit crowded at some times.

CP is definitely more crowded than the Grand, Golden, Star series.
It is very noticeable in the Princess Theater. Get there at least 30
minutes before the shows or you can forget about getting a seat.

As far as PC dining on CP, you just have to call early every day
for a reservation or make one the night before when you
are leaving the dining room. However, one thing that helps
is there is more lido deck food on CP - there is another whole
separate serving area at the back of the lido deck that does
not exist on the other ships.

Speaking of making reservations early, reserve movies under
the stars as soon as you make up your mind. It is neat, but
it fills up fast.
