Default Walkie Talkies on the Island Princess

A Hoy! We will be cruising to Alaska with some friends, middle of August. Does the Island Princess have Walkie Talkies to rent on board? When we were on the Diamond last year, people could rent them. I know, as they were cutting in on our "Motorola T5410'" which worked terrible inside the ship. Has anyone used their own Walkie Talkies that work better?

Thanks for your help

We've used our walkie-talkies on most ships we've cruised on, with mostly good results. Every now and again we have to change them all to a different channel and subcode. We own mostly Motorola ones, but I don't know the model number. Given all the metal between any two points on the ship, I'm surprised how well they work. It helps a bunch to have good batteries (we use rechargable nickel metal hydride 2600mah batteries).

We use ours on the ship and they work pretty good. There are spots where it is "dead". We have the Cobra 5 mile range ones with the charger.

We used Cobra's on the Legend and V.O.S. and our friends had Motorola's and with sub channels they worked very well.
