For something inexpensive, convenient and clean try the Holiday Inn Express on 17th Street. Its about 10 minutes from the airport, about 10 minutes from the pier and within walking distance of the grocery store, a strip mall and some restaurants, they may have shuttle service from the airport, ask when you make your reservations.

I just booked the Comfort Inn and Suites which is right around the corner from Port Everglades. We got around $100 and they have free transfer to the Port. Booked it directly at the Comfort Inn website--they also have AAA discounts

There is also the Best Western Marina Inn right on the waterway. When you get up in the morning you can look outside and see your ship at dock. They also have AAA and AARP discounts.

My advice is to avoid the Best Western Marina Inn. People told me that before I stayed there, and I wish I had listened.

We also love to stay at the Embassy Suites. Its a great hotel, really pretty inside. They have shuttle service from the airport to the hotel-hotel to pier. They also have a really nice full buffet breakfast which is included in the cost of your room, also included is happy hour with h'ordovers, local paper, coffee/tea in your room. Its centrally located.

The Comfort Inn on Stirling Rd is a good one. We stay there every year. It's not the Taj Mahal but it's clean, they have free transportation from the airport and then to the port and they offer hot free breakfast in the morning (omelate station). They have a nice pool and a Tiki Bar and are located near a good shopping center with plenty of places to eat. We are booked for February for $135.00 (AAA rate). The Hampton Inn is right next door but we haven't ever stayed there.

Hi there!

We are flying into Ft. Lauderdale the day before our cruise and staying at the Westin Ft. Lauderdale. We booked this with our Princess Cruise, so that might be an option for you.

However, if you are looking for a not so expensive hotel or no frills attached, take a look at the Best Western Marina Inn..pretty cool from what I have heard! 8)

I've got the Hampton Inn (real close to the cruise port) booked. They shuttle to the ship.

Avoid the Comfort Inn Suites near the port - it is not a nice place - go mfor mthe Amerisuitesn instead - you can get it on valuetrips for about $79 or sometimes on priceline for about $50.

So what is wrong with the Comfort Inn? We are booked in there for several days and now you have me worrying.

We stayed at the Comfort Inn on Stirling Road last Feb prior to a cruise. What a dump! Dirty carpet, smelly room, broken door lock, see-through towels (need I say more?) . When we asked the front desk to call a taxi for dinner, they tried to talk us into their "bargain" driver. They wanted $40 (plus, I assume, a tip) for what turned out to be a less than $20 round trip taxi ride. When we turned down their offer, they got quite huffy. Having a free shutttle didn't offset the rest. We wished we had gone back to the Sheraton Yankee Clipper where we had been the previous year. Not much more expensive and a whole lot nicer. Good luck!
