Default Who's the C.D aboard the Caribbean Princess now?

Just getting ready for another family reunion cruise aboard the CP, and wondering who the current CD is at this time? Any of you who just got off, please let me know. (Wishing it was Graham Seymour!!)
THanks!!
Ken

Yep,,,you're both correct. We just returned, and James Lay is indeed the C.D. He does a really good job. Thanks to both of you for your response.

HI skymaster,we had graham seymor on one our grand sailings and never had a cd like him since.I read on one of the boards that he went to another line, what a loss for princess.james lay was good but nothing like graham.our last cruise was on the sun for a 10 day and the cd on there was a female from texas, think we seen her 3 times the whole cruise.I think they need to leave the cd position to the brits, they are much more fun.

Right you are Paul. I tend to agree with you that the Brits do a stellar job at the rigors of being a CD on a ship like the Caribbean Princess. They have to work 18 hours a day, at least!! We ran into James Lay at least a dozen times during our 7 day cruise. He does, indeed, do a very good job.
Later,
Ken

NOt to be too ignorant, but just what does a CD do? Is this someone you should tip or what? This newbie hasn't a clue.

Hi Vawterf. Not to worry. The CD is the Cruise Director, and his job is to hire and fire, and to arrange and conduct all of the entertainment aboard the ship. He (or she) will be the MC of most all the "big shows" in the main lounges, and he will make all the announcements about coming events aboard the ship etc. It's a tremendous job, and some are just much better at it than others. A "bad" CD won't ruin your cruise, but a good one can make it much, much more enjoyable. I've never heard of anyone tipping the CD, although I suppose you could if you wished. I think he would much rather have a big "Thank You", and a pat on the back.
See you aboard,
Ken

Hello Butterfly
I'd bet you're right. I had heard that he was jumping to another line, but hadn't heard which one. His personality and wit will fit in perfectly with the "fun ship" wild and crazy goings on, and I'd bet he will be a hit over there. We enjoyed his antics, but in reality, James Lay, who took over for him on the Caribbean Princess, really filled his shoes well.
See you aboard,
Ken

Graham went to Royal Caribbean. We were on the Caribbean Princess and he was really rude on the tv during his last week on board the ship. Not sure what happened but it wasn't pretty to watch it.

Default CD on Princess

How disappointing to hear about Grahams departure from PC. He was the CD on our past 3 cruises. Our last crusie in 2004 on Golden , he was a little rude, but funny rude about the hair salon and he was saying something about this aweful hair do he got from the salon. We talked to him in the elevator a few times and at Bingo and he told us he was employeed with PC for several years. Too bad for Princess. I'll post my thoughts when I return from CP 11/26/05
