Default Luggage and Tipping

Hi. I read a post somewhere that we should tip person when we give them our luggage when we arrive. Is this correct or do we tip them when they bring it to our room? Although we may not see them bring it to our room right?

You tip the porters who take your luggage to be put on the ship. It is usually $1 a bag.

exactly what CA said. Tip the porter who takes your bags from you when you arrive at the pier. $1 per bag is customary unless you have an unusually large or heavy bag, then tip more for that bag.

Right they are. If you pack the bag that the lovely Mrs. Jones formally packed, (I hid it from her and bought two smaller ones) you should tip a bit more! Other than that, just $1 per bag. It's your room steward who brings the bags to your cabin I think. You tip him at the end of the cruise.
Happy sailing, and enjoy
Ken

I believe the ships deck hands generally deliver the bags to the cabins and probably any other crew that is available, The room stewards are usually busy meeting guests, and giving out instructions and fielding complaints. If I am in my room when bags are delivered I will give those hard workers a few dollars.
