Default Princess Cancelled My Cruise!

I received a call from my TA last night informing me that Proncess has cancelled our crusie on the Dawn for 12/23/06. I had booked staterooms for all my children and their family for a XMAS/New Year cruise.

I asked the TA why Princess caned the voyage and she said they said "We might have some problems in Puerto Rico". What?

Anyone else on this cruise receive a call?

Have you tried calling Princess? I checked the internet news and couldn't find anything... we'd be interested in hearing the story. I hope it works out OK for you.

The Princess site shows all the booking #'s as Cancelled. The site says for that crusie "Pricing is currently not available. Please check back later or call 1-800-PRINCESS."

So, I called them. No idea why it was cancelled. Must be something to do with the ship.

There are no plans to reschedule it to a different day or replace it with another ship.

There is a discussion on Cruise critic about that cruise.
It seems the DAWN is just doing the Mexican riviera and not going to the Caribbean as previously planned.

WHAT, they cancelled your cruise only one week out!!!!!!!!!!?

What sort of renumerration did they offer? I mean people book time off work, book hotels, plane tickets, etc. I would be FURIOUS!

Good luck trying to get anything else at this late date too!

shark have you gotten an answer yet? You have plenty of time to rebook for next year, keep bugging you TA until you get a definite answer.

The best that I could get out of folks is that Princess decided not to relocate the ship to SJU.

did you get a refund on your deposit? If not, have your TA push for that, and book another cruise. The cruise line is pefectly within its rights to cancel a cruise, i would just hope that they would be a bit more accomodating to those passengers. Get your TA on it.

I had no problem getting by deposit(s) and cruise credits back. I had 4 cabins, so that was a few bucks.

What really irritates me the most is that this was the "perfect" crusie for us over the Christmas and New Year holidays. Now when I look for a replacement, they are sold out or are junk cruises on the wrong days.

I am not really sure what the TA can do. Princess had a change of plans and acted accordingly. Maybe a few extra bucks for cruise credit would be nice, but beyond that I don't see much.

Oh, well. Time to move on.

I am my own TA in a sense. I do the leg work finding the cruise and then I ask for bids from agencies. Most of the time I go with the lowest bid and it may or may not be the last agency that I used.

I am going to contact the last agency that booked this cruise and see if they can squeeze something more out of Princess.
