I know that LAX is approximately 18-20 miles from San Pedro and a 45 min. drive, but does anyone know if it is shorter to come from Orange County and if so how many miles and drive time is it to the Port of San Pedro?
I am not sure about costs or actual drive time from SNA to San Pedro versus LAX, but if I were flying in for a cruise, I would choose LAX first, LGB second, and SNA third. This is just based on the availability of Flights and general convenience. Not sure where you are flying in from, but LGB has both AA and JetBlue Flights. If you are flying Southwest, I think I would probably look at Burbank since it is really convenient to I-5 and you can use it to San Pedro. I think of all of the Southern California Airports to use for a cruise flight that Orange County may be the most inconvenient.
John Wayne Airport (SNA) is about 36 miles from the pier. Depending on traffic, you are looking at 45 minutes to 1.5 hours.
Lax is about 19 miles from the pier. About 45 minutes.
Burbank (BUR) is about 39 miles. Trip time is at least 1 hour + depending on traffic.
Best bet is LAX.

LAX might be 15 miles closer but John Wayne (SNA) is much easier and faster to get in and out of. Long Beach is the best bet and it's right in the middle of both.

I have no idea wher the OP is fling from. However, there is usually a price to pay going into John Wayne and Long Beach. The OP, I'll bet, can get a better cost on this ticket going into LAX.
So pay $XXX more on airfare or get out of the airport faster?
Best price for JFK to SNA is $373 R/T. To LAX $301 R/T. Also no nonstop flights between JFK and SNA.
I still say that LAX is the best overall choice.
