We will be there! Going with hubby and his company for annual trip ... and this is the first time we've done a cruise versus a land-resort so we're pretty excited! There're about 20 of us Michiganders who will be on board with you and your family. There's quite a few folks over at cruisecritic.com on the roll call message board who will be there too. I can't wait ... only 7 days!!! Yippeeeeeee! What deck are you on? We're on Emerald. Have you been on many other cruises? Any specific advice for a newbie?
We are doing this cruise on 2/4. I have been on 30+ cruises all over the world. If you have been reading message boards you know that there can be some issues with this cruise itinerary. Best advice to you is to roll with the punches(or waves). Do not sweat the things that you cannot control. Remember you are on a cruise vacation and even if you do not get off the ship you will have a wonderful time. Our first few cruises we thought we had to do everything on the ship and got home more tired than when we left. Now it is hang out and eat. Have a great time. Let us know how it goes.
Kosmo & MJ it will be wonderful to have you aboard. We're coming from Oregon, so I'm just going to be happy to have some dry warm weather to look forward to! We're in a mini-suite on the dolphin deck.
BTW: My sister in law is from East Lansing.
Me: 45 - fourth cruise
Dh: 46 - first cruise and it took quite a bit of wrangling to get him to come
DD: 9 will turn 10 on the ship: 4th cruise (thanks to grandma & grandpa)
DS: 6 - 2nd cruise
My parents - I think this will be their 38 or 39th on princess alone! This doesn't count all the other cruises they've been on.
Friends: 2nd cruise - 1st with Princess
We will be with dd and ds-inlaw and her boss and her husband. We have all cruised before and all know the problems that they have been having. Kids are from Bakersfield, CA. We are from Kansas City and are driving. Staying at the Holiday Inn. Can hardly wait. Ready for some warm weather. Snowing here today.
Yes, I've been reading all the boards regarding the adventures on the Grand and have told my mother we should expect delays, snafus and the like and if everything runs smooth, well then, we'll be pleasantly surprised!
I think the key word is flexible !!
Of course children aren't always the most flexible of humans but mine are just jazzed to be going on a cruise.
We'd LOVE to see some snow. We had one snow day and that was it.
Hello again MJ & Lois! Only 3 days to go ... WOO HOO!!!
I am very excited for our first cruise to say the least. At this point, we are more resort folk but I'm a little concerned that I will be "swayed" towards cruising after next week!!! I can't believe how many cruises your folks have been on ... YOWZA!
DH is 36 and I am 33. The other folks we are traveling with range from mid 20's to mid 50's. My in-laws will be among the group as FIL works at same company as DH ... it's actually a good thing as I adore them and they are a blast! You'll probably be able to spot us playing Euchre at a table somewhere every eve ... although DH is excited to try his hand at REAL Texas Hold 'Em in the casino ... yikes.
I just read over at cruisecritics.com that the Grand skipped Grand Cayman this week and went to Playa del Carmen instead. Any ideas why they had to do that? I'm all about being flexible too and will have fun regardless ... was just hoping to hit GC though as it would be new to us. Oh ... and I have the stingray excursion planned!
Gettin' purty excited here in good ole Michigan -- will start packing today! It's actually unseasonably warm here (40's) but unseasonably warm sure ain't carribean warm! Let the final countdown begin ...
I only know that they have been having trouble with their generators. This is from reading cc and cm. I love them both. Yes cruising is addictive. I was lucky enough to work as a Travel Agent for about 5 years. If any one assumes that their jobs are easy. I am hear to tell you that they earn every penny they get. I liken it to juggeling. Sell, documents, billing is every thing right. I was ready to retire. But it did allow us to do some fabulous cruises, We have litteraly been on every cruise line. And will continue to cruise. Have a great time. Just remember GO WITH THE FLOW. Stuff happens and cannot always be controled. Do not get upset. Just enjoy. Days at sea are awesome.
Go to "Live from the Grand" board under Princess..AdmiralNelson has been posting on there and he tells whats going on..He says the next sailing,(which is yours) is going to PDC too. And now..the ship is tilting to port side?? check it out
If the Admiral checks in, can you tell us why we're experiencing a significant tilt to port side? We noticed it when we boarded in Galveston but it's gotten worse all week. Today it is very noticable. Just curious.
