Default Island Princess death

Now the Island Princess has had a death of a Hawaiian Pilot on their ship the Island Princess.. He fell off of a ladder as he was leaving the ship after guiding it out of Nawiliwili Harbor in Hawaii.. The news report says that he fell into the water and was hit by the pilot boat and died at the hospital.. This happened Sunday night. (Jan. 29, 2006). That all the cruise people need is more bad press..OM

Though a horrible accident, if true, I don't think it can really translate to being bad press.

Much different than most of the other goings on that draw the press.

That is very sad. I, too, do not believe it should receive bad press.

Deaths happen anywhere. They happen in hospitals, streets, ect. That does not stop anyone from going or using these things.

Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

Courage and perserverance have a magical talisman; before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish into the air.

Pick your company wisely! Hang around people who are going to help you become all God created you to be.

Accidents, murders, suicides, disappearances and the like happen everywhere and while I hate to hear of these things happening to people while they are on vacation (or working on a ship), I love when the media blows it up and makes it sound like cruiseships are tragedies just waiting to happen. Bad Press = Lower Prices!

Default I was aboard to IP

and it was a really tragic event. After I got home, I went online and read the article in the Honolulu newspaper. According to the article, he somehow slipped or misstepped while going down the jacob's ladder to board the pilot boat, and fell into the water between the ship and the pilot boat. He was pulled under the pilot boat. The IP launched it's rescue boat, and he was gotten out of the water and rushed to the hospital on Kuaui, where he died. According to the report, he was 67, had been doing this work for 30 years, was married and had grown children. He was a highly respected harbor pilot and very active in community affairs.
I see no reason to expect bad press from this event. Princess does not appear to have done anything that would have contributed to the accident, and there was nothing in the newspaper to indicate otherwise..
The seas were calm, so it really does not seem to be anything other than a tragic accident.
