FEB 4, 06 GRAND PRINCESS MY ENTIRE FAMILY WAS ON THE CRUISE OF A LIFE TIME WHEN NEAR DIASTER STRUCK AS WE SAILED OUT OF GALVESTON,TX. WHILE THE CAPTIAN DINED WITH HIS SISTER HIS STAFF ALMOST TURNED THE SHIP OVER. MY FAMILY WAS DINNING AND THE SHIP BEGIN TO LIST TO ONE SIDE. DISHES BEGIN TO FALL ALONG WITH TABLES, CHAIRS, FOOD, AND PASSENGERS. WE WERE THROWN AGAINST THE WINDOW AS OUR SMALL CHILDREN BEGAN TO SCREAM AND HANG ONTO ANYTHING AVAILABLE. WATER FROM ALL THE POOLS BEGAN TO RUSH THROUGH THE DINNING ROOM AND EVEN INTO THE STATE ROOMS. AFTER RECOVERING OUR FOOTING WE FOUGHT OUR WAY OUT THE MAIN DECK IN PREPARATION TO BOARD LIFE BOATS. AFTER FINDING THAT THE SHIP WAS NOT GOING TO TURN OVER WE STOOD OUT ON DECK IN THE COLD FOR A LONG TIME BEFORE ANY ONE TRIED TO ENPLAIN WHAT HAD JUST HAPPENED. WHEN WE RETURNED TO OUR CABIN WE FOUND IT UP SIDE DOWN. NO ONE EVER CAME TO HELP ARE EVEN CHECK ON US. WE FINALLY CLEANED UP OUR ROOM AND IT WAS THREE DAYS BEFORE THE BROKEN LAMPS WERE FIXED. PEOPLE IN THE KNOW TOLD US THAT THE SHIP HAD LISTED OVER 26 DEGREES. IT TURNS OVER AT 41 DEGREES. OUR CHILDREN HAD NITEMARES AND WERE AFRAID THE REST OF THE TRIP. NO EFFORT HAS BEEN MADE BY PRINCESS LINES TO COMPENSATE THE PASSENGERS IN ANY WAY.
I have heard about the 'list' on several of the boards, however, I am a bit remiss in totally believing your account.
For one thing, the pools are up on Lido deck, the dining rooms on Plaza and Fiesta decks, if I count correctly (not much coffee yet), there are 7 decks between. Now, for 'water to come rushing through the Dining Room', down 7 decks would have flooded the entire ship (nor do I think that there would have been enough water in those pools to do such.
I belive that this is the same incident that was reported on the boards earlier. Seems that there was a medical emergency and the ship had to turn around as quickly as it could. She is a huge ship and doesn't exactly "turn on a dime" and Galveston is a narrow harbor.
All you had to do was contact your cabin steward right away and your cabin would have been cleaned and taken care of.
If it was a ship's emergency you would have been instructed to grab your lifejacket and go to your Muster station.
Princess owes you nothing along the lines of compensation.
