We are going to Alaska in July with another couple and want to purchase two way radios for all of us to keep in touch with each other. Which works best inside and outside the ship. We are starting in Fairbank 8) s and then after 5 nights on ashore/train and then going on the
If you are asking about brands and pricing, we purchased the 39.99 specials at Radio Shack and had great luck on the ship and on shore.....but ........you aren't the only folks on the ship with the walkie-T's and we found it very difficult to find a "clear" channel to talk on especially if there are a lot of children on your cruise.
We always travel with our walkie-T's, but we do use it sparingly.
We have had very good luck with our Motorola's. You need to get the walkie-talkies that have sub-channels and a 2-5 mile radius. The sub-channels are a must- there is too much chatter on the main channels and you would not be able to talk to or hear eachother. The walkie-talkies work well on open decks, not so great interior - too much metal to go thru.
