We will be cruising with our 18yr and our 8yr. How would you work the cabin issue. Is a mini suite good for 3 adults and 1 child or is there another way. I wouldn't feel comfortable with my 8 year old in another cabin. What deck would be the best.
I would look for adjoining cabins. 4 in cabin is doable, but quite cramped, and with 1 bathroom could get irritating.
With the adjoining cabins, you can leave the door between open and just have double the space.... and double the sanity
A mini-suite on the Grand Class ships is very doable for 4 people. In the seating area there is a sofa bed and a bunk over the sofa bed - that would work fine for the kids. The extra room is nice, the bathroom is larger and you get more storage space. It is usually cheaper to book a mini-suite than it is to book 2 cabins.
Caribe and Dolphin are our favorite decks.
