[I just returned from a cruise on the Golden Princess. San Juan to NYC. Just wanted to let everyone know that they are now charging you $1.15 for a cup of coffee when you order it from one of the bars. Personally I think this is outrageous. I guess that's the Carnival influence.

Are you saying there is a charge for coffee when you order it at one of the bars where alcoholic beverages are served?
If that is the case, I'm surprised that they have not charged for it before. When one orders any alcoholic beverage at the bars, there is a charge for it, plus the automatic 15% gratuity. This is served to you by the bar attendant. It's not like you go up to the coffee urn in the buffet and get your own. This is served to you.
Sounds like the coffee costs $1 and the 15 cents is the gratuity. That's cheaper for coffee than at many restaurants on land.

On all the cruises that I have been on with princess and we have 49 of them I was always able to get a cup of coffee gratis at the main bar in the atrium. In fact they usually had a pot there where you could just help youself. On my last cruise I was informed that the coffee was $1 plus the service fee. The same thing happened to juice with lunch. I almost always skip breakfast and when I went to lunch I liked to get a glass of Tomato juice. I guess it was about a year ago they started charging for that also. You can still get it for breakfast but for lunch you pay.
