Default Curious about Princess?

Yes, we could cruise on the Southern route out of SJ either on the Carnival Destiny or the new ship from Princess. Price is only 100.00 difference, same cabin type etc. We have only cruised Carnival and RCCL. We really liked Carnival(Libery) so just curious of the differences and if we should go for the new ship?? Thank you

We've never been on either of those cruiselines. We are Princess fans, me for 3 cruises, my travel friend for 4, and we are booked for 2/07, and planning 2008 already. All on Princess, a different ship each time, and don't feel any of them were anything less than what we'd hoped for.
Maybe if you try Princess, you will become fans too.
In the words of an old commercial, "Try it, You'll like it!"

Default Curious about Princess

We have been on RCCL, Carnival and Princess. If you mean a cruise on the Crown I would definately take a new ship over the Carnival ship sailing from P.R. We will sail Crown Princess out of N.Y. on Sept. 30.

Of these three lines, I understand that Royal Caribbean is the middle ground between Princess and Carnival in terms of amenities, activities, etc. If you like Carnival better than Royal Caribbean, you probably would be happier ton Carnival than on Princess.

I have sailed RCCL, Carnival, NCL and Princess 5 times each.
I think you will find that as Rev 22:17 said I think Carnival is one end of the spectrum with Princess on the other and NCL and RCCL inbetween. However, there is not a huge difference between them.
Be prepared for Princess to be more subdued - no hairy chest contests but not's not a morgue either. I would sail any of the four any time, and actually have bookings on 3 of those four right now. My least favorite is Carnival because of the dining room entertainment, but having said that I am booked for the Med. on the Freedom next summer.
Enjoy!

The key difference with Princess that may appeal to you is "anytime dining" as opposed to assigned tables at traditional dining.

With anytime you can dine when, and with whom you like each evening.

Princess is the only line that has fresh water pools and as far as I know the only line that has real refrigerators (not the mini bar type where the ice melts almost immediately). The food and service are excellent as are the various things you can do ... I'm a trivia buff and they do it ... RCI doesn't. I have sailed on RCI, NCL, Carnival and many, many other lines (a lot of them no longer in business) - and much prefer Princess over all of them.

go for it, try something new. That's the only way you will know.
Princess is my favorite line(so far). Princess ships have a casual elegance about them, like a really nice resort hotel. No glitz, no showyglam. There is plenty to do for all age groups day and night.
