pre-cruise hotels

I know this had been done before but my choice of hotels in Fort lauderdale is booked so any recommendations for affordable accomodations would be appreciated. I mentioned in another post that we have a booking at the comfort inn airport/cruiseport and another member mentioned that there have been some not so favourable reviews on that hotel. Help!!!!!!!!!

We are going in March and have been researching this also using TripAdvisor.com. We tried Priceline but could not get a room at our $125 bid, probably because it's considered Spring Break season. We decided on the Hampton Inn - Downtown and got it for $116/gov't rate and we can also get HH points.

We stayed at the Bahia Mar last year thru Priceline and it was just okay. They put us across the way in the older section but it was for only 1 night and we had a 6am flight out the next morning.

We stayed at that Comfort Inn back in 2001 and it was a great place for the value. The staff were very helpful picking us up at the airport and taking us to the port. Also, the breakfast was great with a made to order omelet station.

Good luck!

LisaK, the Marriot Marina is now the Ft Lauderdale Grande. Others are Hyatt Pier 66, Renaissance Hotel, Marriot Harbor beach, Best Western Oceanside Inn, Sheraton Yankee Clipper.
Comfort Suites Airport and Cruiseport is a good hotel. I've stayed there. As the name says, all the rooms are suites.

We stayed at the Sleep Inn in Dania last time and were very happy with the facilities. They provide transportation from the airport and to the port free. The complimentary breakfast is good. It is adjacent to a large Walgreens drug store and a Publix Supermarket for the last minute item pickup. There are several restraunts in the strip mall with the Publix. Just beware of the man-eating iguana who sunbathes by the pool. LOL

Just got off the Caribbean Princess on the 14th of January and for the pre-cruise hotel we stayed at the Comfort Suites at the Cruiseport. Nice room and breakfast was included. Transfers started at 11:00 but the ships are about 2 miles away. You sign up the night before. It's a service that the hotel contracts for but no cost to you. Room were very.
