Default beach questions

I'm a beach bum at heart so I want to do some lazy beach relaxing at our ports. What are the best beaches in Barbados, Curacao and Margarita Island, St. Thomas? Do you take the offered excursions or just find your own way?

I found "brandons beach" in Barbados and it says its an easy walk from the cruiseport. Anyone know this for sure?

St. Thomas - if you just want a gorgeous beach to veg out on then just grab a cab and go to Meagan's Bay Beach. FYI - no snorkeling here

We went to megans bay in st thomas. This was very good. We paid $8 each way for a small bus/van type vechile. The beach chairs and umbrella were $15. We caught the van at the pier area on our own.

we did the megans bay getaway last year and found the beach very crowded, not very clean and murky water. I have to admit I was a little disappointed especially in comparison to the beach in St. Maarten and Princess Cays. Thanks for your input though.

cruisinbuddy -another option on St. Thomas proper for a great beach is Sapphire Beach. IF you want to make the effort and go over to St. John Island i can guarantee that you will not be dissapointed with the gorgeous beaches over there. A great resource for info is www.vinow.com
Curacao - we liked the beach at the Aquarium

I was just in Barbados in October 2006, and my husband and I did the horseback riding trip which I would highly recommend, and than we went to Malibu beach which is close by to the pier. We also were told that The Boatyard is very nice, I believe the beach is on a nice resort. I also visited St. Thomas...Meagan Bay was pretty, but no watersports, Sapphire Beach is alot better and if you like to do water sports than this would be the one for you. Have a great cruise.

Like LisaK says,,,St. John beaches are absolutely beautiful, and unspoiled, and usually not at all crowded...IMO worth the trip over.
Have a great cruise.
