Please be reminded that embarkation begins at 1:00 pm.
It is recommended that you arrive after 2:00 pm in order to avoid long
lines and waiting times. Please note that adequate facilities are not
available at the pier to comfortably accommodate large numbers of passengers
who arrive prior to 1:00 pm.
In addition, passengers arriving prior to 11:00 am will not be permitted
to enter the port.
This is from the Princess website. Does this sound right? They are encouraging you to arrive late? Just making sure.
If everyone did that, the lines would be longer and not shorter. :o
"In addition, passengers arriving prior to 11:00 am will not be permitted
to enter the port." I have never seen this before.
We have boarded around 1200 without much trouble. The crowd at Southampton was the largest and the port in Civitavecchia was the shortest. We were on the ship and in our cabin by 1130.

I like too be at the port around 10 o'clock,to see all the going ons.Never had any problems at all.You get to meet alot of passengers on your cruise and get to know some of them. You can learn alot from others while waiting in line.Sometimes,I have been the first person on the ship.Too bad they don't give out a prize for the first one on.>
We just returned from our cruise out of Port Everglades and had received that same info from our travel agent. Since our hotel checkout time was 11 and we were right across the street from the port, it didn't make sense to sit around a hotel lobby. We arrived at the port around 11:30 and at noon they opened the doors and called us by number. We were in group "4". There was no waiting, so we were in our cabin and then to the Caribbean Princess lido buffet by 12:30. Out of 7 cruises, it was our easiest embarkation ever!
We got to the port at 1:30 and waited about 10 minutes. That was my first cruise last year. I expected to be confused because there were so many people around. But Princess was very well organized and got us all through without any problems and hardly a wait.
I just got back a couple of days ago from my cruise out of Fort Lauderdale on the Coral Princess. We were given the same information. Our flight got in at around 9:00 am and we found the Princess representatives and got the bus around 11:00 and were on the ship just a little bit after noon.
