Whales or Sharks, can they be seen in the western carribean?
I should've been born a Jaqueline Costeau, as much as I love the whales, sharks, and other wildlife. I should be living alone on an island letting my hair grown on my legs randomly.
Seriously, I spot for whales in Hawaii (my home years ago and whenever I return there). What are the chances I'll have the pleasure of seeing them in the western carribean at this time of year when most humpback are sailing up to Alaska?
My husband and I recently returned from Costa Maya on a RC Splendour of the Seas cruise. We saw a shark while we were sitting in the Windjammer Cafe waiting to leave the Costa Maya port. We saw some of the crew members jumping up and down and pointing. They were pointing at a very large shark. It was as long as the width of the pier. We estimated it to be about 25 feet long. It was one of the most exciting things we've ever seen on a cruise. Unfortunately, we had left our cameras in our room. Many of the people there had their cameras and were lucky enough to get pictures of the shark. (I would have had a heart attack if I had been in the water when I saw this shark!!) I hope you get your wish.
