Default Soft drink cards - worth it?

Hi -

Star Princess:

I read somewhere that buying a "coke card" was a good idea for regular cola drinker, but my question is:

Once I have the card, are the soft drinks regularly available, or will I end up waiting in lines to get access them? I can handle paying for my cokes, but, as an ex military, I can't take paying AND waiting in long lines for my drinks or refills.

Thanks, Don

Hi Don: The card is great if you consume alot of soft drinks. Just a heads up - the card is good for fountain soda only. If you prefer Coke in a can, you pay per can plus a 15% gratutity. We purchased the sticker on our last two cruises and didn't have a problem waiting in line for a soda. Just show your card at any lounge. dining room or at Horizon court and you'll be taken care of.

How much does the soft drink card cost and is it for Coke or Pepsi products?

Cost was around $27.00, which included an insulated-type beverage container. We left the container in the cabin. Didn't want to carry it with us all day. We just showed our card to the bartendars/wait staff and asked for large glasses of soda and they brought it without a problem. Coke products are available on board. If you prefer Pepsi, you'll need to bring it with you.

Beverage cards were a good value. You only need 1 per family, since it is unlimited. Just may have to go back a couple of times to get beverages. Only 1 served at a time. It is good for any foutain beverage. Can also use for tonic if you want to mix a drink.

My son is a BIG Mt Dew drinker. Is it available or should we bring our own?

The cards are ment to be per person and not per family.

Hi KCfan: I don't know if Mountain Dew is offered. Coke products are served on Princess. Our cruise buddies are staunch diet Pepsi drinkers and since it's not available on board, they bring their own supply of Pepsi. They didn't have any problem bringing it on board.

We have each purchased a beverage sticker on all 4 of our previous cruises and will plan to purchase another one on our next cruise in two weeks. The best part of the card in my humble opinion is that you don't have to sign for each drink. You should purchase a card for each person using it, but once you've done that you can guiltlessly purchase a beverage for someone in your party if you're going to the bar anyway. I also like to purchase the sticker from that poor server that gets stuck way back in the middle of the ship just to help them out--not sure if they get a commission.

KCfan: Mountain Dew is a Pepsi product. The stickers are only good for Coke products, you'd have to bring the Dew.

In my opinion, the sticker was well worth the price. I never knew a person to comsume so much Coke until that cruise.

Default Soda Cards

Don
As a retired military man myself, I know what you mean. I always get the card on the way to my room (just a sticked they put on the room card) after boarding. You get your dollars worth if you like coke like I do.

What does a coke on board cost? Plus 15% gratuity, correct? Thanks...trying to determine if it is a good idea.

coke cards are $3.99 a day put 14% tip. that means you have to drink more that 4 cokes a day to break even. Every day since they charge you for the whole cruise. I bought one but never again. They serve tea for free. Did anyone see the Carvinal is going to confiscate anyone bringing bottled water or other beverages on board. What a rip off. You can bring 1 bottle of wine, nothing else
