Default Has anyone ever seen someone use or brought

a clamp-on beach chair umbrella to use on the Dolphin cabin balconies? We just bumped up to a mini-suite and have never had an open balcony but need some shade. There are a few styles I'm looking into. One is a PortaBella and it comes with sandbags and ropes for anchoring. They all fold up to be only 30" long which can easily fit in a suitcase. We could also use it on our beach excursions. Anyone?

We were on the Dolphin Deck on the Carribean Princess last cruise (D526). Part of the balcony was in the shade so we didn't have to sit in the sun if we didn't want to.

CA Cruiser

"a clamp-on beach chair umbrella to use on the Dolphin cabin balconies?"

And it appears you got "bumped up" from ??? to a mini suit...what did you start with to get that?

So sudddenly from "never had an open balcony" your now in a mini suite on upgrade, yea right , unless you paid for it, did you? If not,,its hens teeth for that sort of upgrade...

Nice if you did, and you dont have to pack an umbrella, for one in the breeze of the ship moving at 22 knots, it will be "sucked" overboard, including what you clamp it to.

There is no balcony on a ship that has direct sun all day, in fact they are mostly in some sort of shadow. So its not a concern.

Sceptical, but enjoy your upgrade

Hey David,

Please read again..."We just bumped up to a mini-suite and have never had an open balcony but need some shade"... I never said we GOT bumped up...
WE bumped ourselves up and yes we did have to pay a little extra....

Not all balconies are totally open on Princess. The Riveria, Aloha, Baja and Emerald decks have covers over the balconies. The Caribe deck, where we were originally on, is half covered and half open. But there is no cover on the Dolphin deck balconies.

Again, I wasn't planning on using it while cruising at 22 knots, I believe I know better than that. I was thinking more while in port when we get back from excursions or just stay on the ship.

Thanks for the responses.
