smart casual on the crown princess

Can my boyfriend wear khaki docker shorts and a nice shirt for smart casual nights? My last cruise was Royal caribbean about 4 years ago, and i can remember that nice shorts were allowed on casual nights in the dining rooms. hopefully it's the same on this ship. thanks

No shorts allowed in dining room at evening meal period.You may wear them for other two meals in the dining room.

In theory, shorts aren't allowed in the dining room at dinner. In practice, I'm sorry to say that you can probably wear just about anything you want. Although, depending on the phase of the moon, you might find a Princess maitre' d here and there who will enforce the rules. They're a bit fussier than some other lines.
