If anyone has recently been on the Dawn, and would kindly post a quick reveiw,we would really appreciate it. We`re sailing in Oct. to Mexico and are concerned about the condition of this older ship. We`ve heard mixed reveiws of the overall condition including matresses that should be in the junk pile, and service that is below standard. We`re hoping for the best, since this is our first time on Princess,we have sailed numerous times on Norwegian, without incident or complaint.
Well, it wasn't recent, but we sailed a 10-day on the Dawn two years ago. The ship was in fine shape, and we had absolutely no complaints about anything. I've written it up, with photos, at MyCruiseAdventures dot com.
I saw The Dawn in my home port a few weeks ago and she looked lovely
We sailed NCL our very first cruise and second cruise was Princess now we will NEVER go back to NCL! Everything about Princess was much better from the food, stateroom, entertainment, service to the teen center.
NCL wasn't bad BUT compared to the Princess cruise NCL simply isn't even in the same class.
Thanks for posting a review with photos, Dana. We are sailing on the Dawn at the end of August and the OP had me a little worried. It'll be our first trip to Alaska (and our first with Princess) and we're so looking forward to it.
quincytoo, would you happen to be the same quincytoo that also posts on a certain Disney fan site?

I think I may have read about Lisann22 & goodgirl's trip North.
If I counted out the days correctly...we'll be in Victoria on Sept 6.
We're only in port from 7am to 2pm and are planning to take the "Craigdarroch Castle & Butchart Gardens Gourmet Picnic" excursion. Besides being kinda pricy, it'll apparently take our whole time in Victoria -- 5 hours. I hope it's a good one.
We've always wanted to make a trip up there. Perhaps we'll have to return on a land vacation one day. That 5 hours may just quench our appetites.
Sorry to the OP for hi-jacking your topic.

Craigdarroch Castle is a good way to spend a few fours, Admission is $10.00 it is a $8.00 taxe ride, maybe a $15.00 lunch?? How much are they chraging you?? ...... My guests LOVED it when we went (no tour).....I am working that day or I wouold say let me be your tour guide
You will have fun and Victoria weather is usually GREAT in Sept
We're really looking forward to the Castle and the Gardens. I can't recall what the cost is (DH's department), but I remember there's also a picnic lunch included.
It would be great to have our own personal tour guide. So sorry we're going to miss you. We'll wave from the deck (or our balcony) anyway...on the off chance you see us.
Good news about the weather. We're hoping for pleasant weather on the whole trip, but realize that we will most likely experience quite a bit of rain. We'll just have to dress appropriately. Sounds like more shopping in my future to get all that cute wet weather gear I'm going to need.
