Default Brooklyn Cruise Terminal back to LGA

Any suggestions on best way to get from the BCT to LGA upon disembarkation? We have a mid-afternoon flight so we won't be rushed and we would prefer not to use a Princess transfer as we don't want to have to wait on the bus to fill up in order to depart. Have heard that that can take as long as an hour or more and that the Princess bus does not depart until full, which makes sense. But we will do that if that is the most practical and economical. We were going to reserve a car, but read on another thread that one cannot reserve a car upon returning to the BCT. Are there cars and/or taxis ready and waiting at the BCT to take passengers to their respective airports? Can a car be reserved or is that not necessary? Can we get a taxi easily? Thanks, in advance, for all advice.

In non-rush hours it will take about 1 hour and 15 minutes and cost $35 - $40 by taxi.

Not hardly. $30-$40 might be about right, but the terminal is in Red Hook, right next to the BQE (Brooklyn-Queens Expressway). It's about 10 or 12 miles from LGA and maybe 20 minutes in non-rush hour. Half hour tops.

If it takes an hour and 15 minutes either there's a major wreck, or your driver is lost, or he's taking you for a big ride.

Does this mean that taxis and/or car service vehicles are plentiful and readily available?

Should be. I can't tell you for sure, because I've never sailed into or out of that terminal. But I know exactly where it is, since both my kids live practically within walking distance of it. I've taken cabs from their places to LGA no problem, and I've got to believe that the cabbies know when ships are pulling in. This is not in a remote, out-of-the-way area like a lot of ports. The Brooklyn waterfront is hustle and bustle.

Thanks, AR. That being the case, and what you said makes perfect sense, I don't think that we need to reserve anything in advance. I made our return flight reservations for late in the afternoon so that we would not be pressed for time; less stressful that way.
