Default Zodiac snorkeling

We are sailing on the Dawn Princess December 2 to the Mexican Riveiera (I spelled that wrong). We are contemplating doing one of the snorkeling excursions, one where you take a Zodiac inflatable boat. Has anyone snorkeled off of one of these? I have never snorkeled so I am nervous about getting in and out of the boat. Would the catamaran be less scary? But we think the fast inflatable boat would be fun as I think I would enjoy that part. FYI: We are in our 50's.

You have to climb a ladder for either the catamaran or the zodiac. I had a great zodiac snorkle trip in cabo. a few years ago, the ride to the snorkling spots and back was just as fun as the snorkling!
