Dawn Princess or Golden Princess?

We are planning our first cruise, probably 7 days to Mexico from LA.

Two of our choices are on Princess, either Dawn or Golden.

How to decide between the two?

Thanks.

for us, it was the Golden, the ship is much newer and goes out of LA, the Dawn I beleive cruises out of San Diego, both hit the same ports.

I have been on both of these class ships..the Sea, & the Golden/Grand

The Golden and Grand, for us and many people we know are big ships, that they tried to make cozy, therefore they have a very choppy layout. Just not my cuppa tea, BUT, we loved the Sea, which is a sister to the Dawn, and has a wonderful layout, and we loved the ship....

My vote..THE SEA!

Just this very day finished the Mexico trip on the Golden. I have also travelled on the Dawn. Little or no difference between the two.

The casino dealers and staff on the Golden are below average.

We have sailed on the Dawn many times. We also have sailed on the larger Golden size ships also. We prefer the smaller size. My better half says do both you can't go wrong. I prefer going out of San Diego. Hotels are just across the street and the airport is also close.

As far as I'm concerned, it would be no contest.

>> MV Dawn Princess (and her sisters) have the best overall layout of any ship on which I have cruised. Traffic flows well, the interior spaces seem airy and spacious, even though many of them are quite intimate, and lounges are large enough for the crowds that they draw.

>> MV Golden Princess (and her sisters) have the most dysfunctional layout of any ship on which I have ever cruised. Many spaces feel downright claustrophobic, there are places that become very congested at certain times, and many facilities like the Wheelhouse Lounge fill up so those arriving cannot find seats.

So this is no contest. Given that choice, I would go with MV Dawn Princess every time.

Norm.

In what way are they below average? Are the snotty and unfriendly, untraihned, what? I have found the casino personel on many ships lacking in personality: I sometimes wonder what they are doing there?

Thanks for the comments even if I don't like them. :)
