CREDIT CARD HOLD ON THE ISLAND PRINCESS
My wife and I are taking our first cruise on the Island Princess this coming October. We are going to take the 10 day Aruba/ Cartagena/Panama Canal/ Costa Rica/ Jamaica itinerary.
We are trying to budget for the on-board charges and excursions for the trip. I have seen many threads commenting about holds on credit cards, etc, to back up the on-board charge card/ room key.
I have budgeted $1500 so far for our on-board/ shore excursion expenses.
When my wife and I check in for the cruise, what amount will Princess place on hold on my credit card for the 10 day cruise? Is there a standard amount they use for the initial hold? Your guidance will be appreciated as part of our planning process.
according to Princess website: at the beginning of a cruise they require a $300.00 cash deposit, so they probably would put a $300.00 hold on your credit card per person? I searched their site hi&low and couldn't find the exact info as to credit card charges/holds.
We were on Princess in December, according to the Purser they change the hold on it every day to match what is charged.
