Is this just Princess thing? We were on a ten day cruise, and I was soo tired of getting advertisments dumped in my cabin all of the time!! Everyday something new. A sale in the spa, an art auction sale, eat at the specialty restaraunts, ect.
I know it's a small thing, but I just get tired of the hard sale. Now they also have the "Sanctuary" The private area that charges $10.00 per per for a half day. Now that does not sound too bad, but of course they have a special spa menu that costs extra, and the menu also states there was an additional charge each time they deliver food in the Sanctuary. It did not surprise me to find that it was rarely occupied.
I just want to go and enjoy myself, not get pummeled with extra charges.

Welcome to capitalism 101. That stuff is just like junk mail...trash it and forget it. And no, it is not just a Princess thing. All of the mass market lines do "revenue enhancement".
They even have commission arrangements with onshore businesses. They recommend the business on board, if you visit that store and purchase something, they get a cut. (ex. Diamonds International) This happens everywhere...Caribbean, Alaska, Europe.
The only thing of value that is left in your cabin on a daily basis is the Patter, which tells you what is happening on board for the next day.
I don't even read them, but they dissapear immediately in the trash can

We hated them too until we won a $500 prize by turning in one of the coupons attached to a flyer! On our Holland Cruise, they had a special place in our cabin to put all unwanted ads so they could be reused the next week. Can you imagine all the germs from who knows how many previous cruisers who had to have handled them from weeks before!

All the lines seem to be resorting to this. NCL is the worst, but Princess comes close and then you turn on your TV to the wonderful Princess host that let's you know about all the money you can save by using this and that. We try to leave the TV off as much as possible and throw most of the junk mail in the junk pile.
We kept just the Patter. We placed all the ads in a stack and tore them one time and placed them in the waste basket so they could not be passed on to passengers the following week.
Our ship had to be decontiminated in Vancouver before we could board and that was one percaution that we took. There were still staterooms with the yellow tape across the doors, so we knew those passengers were confined to their rooms.
HI, I AM A SINGLE GUY CONSIDERING THIS SHIP AT THE END OF MARCH. WOULD YOU RECOMMEND IT BESIDES THE FLYERS OR IS IT A BAD SHIP FOR A SINLGE GUY? WOULD APPRECIATE ANY FEEDBACK IF YOU WOULD BE SO KIND.. THANK YOU...PETE
