On several occasions, we both have embarked, each carrying 24 cans of soda, picked up locally just prior to sailing. With one of us being a sodaholic, it's important to have a stash nearby. This is in addition to the Cola card purchase...
We always carry soda in our carry on luggage. I generally take along enough to get us to the next port of call. My Mom and Dad had cokes some in their other luggage one time and it managed to burst. What a mess!!!
There are so many answers, and being that we are new to this we want to get it right. One person says the ship doctor says not to drink the water another says the water is fine to drink. Does anyone know for sure? Another place says soda cards are available, but excluded on Crown Princess, and thats what we're going on. Does anyone know for sure? But from what I have been told its ok to bring soda and water along right?

The plastic bottles we used to bring aboard our favourite "drinks" are rinsed and filled with ship water to take ashore on excursions. There is not, nor could they ever allow anything to be wrong with ship tap water. It may be slightly chlorinated but it's safe.
Not sure about the Crown as far a soda cards. We have had soda cards offered on every ship and every line, all but for Oceania.
We were on the Crown in October and a 'soda' card was offered. It was about $28 for the week. Much easier than carrying on cans.. which we have in the past.

I love Coke....but I have to drink caffeine free and Ships don't carry that, so I always take at least one six pack w/me on board. I buy it locally, would never pack for a plane ride. I buy water from the cruise line as needed.
the ships water is very good and very pure, that is all we drink for water. As for the soda, Princess allows you to bring aboard a reasonable amount of product that they don't offer on the ship, you can buy a six-pack or two locally and put it in your carry-on luggage no problem

We just got off the Emerald Princess on March 5th after a 10 day cruise. We brought on a 12 pack of water and when we were in St. Thomas, brought on a 6-pack of beer with no problem. We usually buy the water in Florida before we sail. Two other ladies we met on two cruises do the samething, but buy Pepsi for their room. You shouldn't have a problem, I don't think that would like two cases of soda but 6-10 bottles should be OK.
