Open seating and privacy

My wife and I have just booked our second cruise with Princess. We are thinking of trying the open dining. My wife and I are very socialable but the one time we do like our alone time is a dinner. It gives us the time together for talking, planning, and enjoying each others company.My question is is there usually any problem getting a private table for two or are we better off with an assigned time? Thanks

We only tried anytime dining once and said it wasn't for us. The tables for two were right next to each other, so close, we ended up talking to the other couples on both sides many nights. The seating was bench seating on one side and a chair on the other. I think you might be able to get a better table for 2 in the traditional dining room. When you get on the ship, head for the dining rooms and check them out. Find a table then put in your reservations for that table every night. Good luck and have a great time.

Table for 2 in the traditional dining room is definitely your best option.
However, see it before you book it, just like the man said.
You will have planty of time to do it on embarkation day.
