Ahhh, another wonderful Sea Day, and perfect weather to go with it!
For some reason, I can get up early on a cruise, something I never do at home, unless I have to for work.
We were up and out on deck in the sun by 8:30, and just enjoyed the warm sun and the peace and quiet.

The main pool areas were always busy and noisy, and the scene of all the fun and games throughout the week, but the aft pool, and the upper decks on the port side were always quieter, and there were always deck chairs available.

This is a good time to mention some of the many activities available on board during the week.
As I watched the ship's video this week at home, I was surprised at how many fun activities, particularly pool games, I had missed, because I was sequestered away in quieter areas of the ship.
A typical day’s listing of things to do on board was as follows:

Brain Waves Quiz
Adult Ping Pong Tourney
Scrapbooking @ Sea
Kids’ Fun Fair
Scholarship @ Sea, Ceramics
Morning Quiz
Photo Fast Seminar
Complimentary Snorkel Lesson
Gemstones Seminar
Crackpot Jackpot Bingo
Bar Wars Battle of the Sexes
Dance Class
Solo Meet & Greet
Closest to the Pin Competition
Veterans Get Together
Wet, Wild & Wacky Pool Games
Balderdash Game Get Together
Art Auction Extravaganza
Movie in the Theatre
Honeymooner Get Together
Afternoon Tea
Adult Arts & Crafts
Afternoon Trivia
Passover Music and Sing Along
GLBT Get Together

As you can see, there’s something there for just about anyone, and so much to choose from that you’re spoiled for choice!

This particular day I headed out for Trivia at 10:00 in the Wheelhouse Bar, but once again there was a miscommunication, because I arrived there to find a private function going on, and no trace of Trivia anywhere!
So, it was back to the Sun Deck, and I tried the cheeseburger from the Poolside Grill for lunch, and can happily report that it was very good!

After some more sunbathing, and an afternoon nap in the air conditioned cabin, it was time for dinner again.
This evening, we had booked the Sterling Steakhouse, one of two speciality restaurants on board.
Being a steakhouse, the restaurant had a slight “western” theme, with a riding saddle posted outside the door. It proved too much of a temptation for me, and I had to climb onto it for a photo!

The restaurant was nice, classy, the food was good, and so was the service, if slightly rushed. In general, we didn’t feel the experience was any more special than the great food and attentive service we had enjoyed in the regular dining room, the only difference being that there was an extra charge for this one!
One funny anecdote came when our heavily accented waiter was describing the cuts of meat to us, and how they were prepared. I chose the filet mignon, and when he asked if I wanted it “butterfly” I asked what that meant.
His description of how they cut open the filet to “let the blood run out” so that it is well cooked inside, had me almost gagging, and had James change his mind on the spot from ordering the filet mignon to ordering the fish dish instead!

After dinner we attended a juggler/comedian show in the Explorers Lounge. Now I know that sounds pretty lame, but the show, starring Billy Prudhomme, was actually pretty good. He was very talented, very funny, and had a good rapport with the audience and we enjoyed it immensely.
This evening’s choices for entertainment were almost as busy as the day’s schedule.
Our next stop was Club Fusion for a 50’s Sock Hop, complete with decorations, entertainment staff in costume, the great pool band Voltz playing live, a hula hoop and twist contest, an Elvis impersonator contest, and lots of dancing and audience participation; we really enjoyed ourselves!
This was followed in the same lounge, by Jeopardy Trivia.
During the Sock Hop, we had found our friends Paul & Pauline, and we teamed up as “Team Canada” to try our luck at Trivia.
We did well, didn’t win, but we had a lot of fun anyway.

Finally it was time for bed, and we slept with our balcony door open, listening to the sound of the sea, rocking us gently to sleep.
