Several of us are going on W. Mediterranean late Aug. Our last port is Venice and we overnight there. Does anyone know how late we can plan
on staying in Venice before having to return to ship? One post I read indicated we might have to use tenders. Friends on another cruiseline docked, but their ship was considerably smaller than the Emerald.
Our last trip to Venice the ship was docked and we took a tender to St Marks square. We had dinner ashore and listened to the music on the square. Returned to the ship late on tender. I think a water taxie would work if you were to mis the last tender. Don't mis the music playing in St. Marks square in the evening. Wonderful experience. Loads of fun. Mike

Thanks so much for the reply. I'll pass it along to the group. If you think of any other info, we will be most grateful.
Did your cruise begin in Barcelona? We arrive there (if all goes to sched)
in early afternoon and ship departs at 10:00pm. Since we are not going in prior to departure date, I was hoping to get a taxi and see Sagrada Familia. If you have any suggestions please let me know.
When we did the same itinerary last year, we had the option of PURCHASING water taxi tickets (shuttle). Everyone was given the tickets, but your sign & sail account was only charged if you used it. The last water shuttle (this is a special boat for the Emerald only) had a late evening schedule so you could stay on the island very late. I know we returned about 8:30PM and had a late dinner on board ship. We had docked about noon.
I read that you will be given a $15 charge for water taxi to and from St. Mark's. You can use it all day and they said the last water taxi back to the ship is 1:00 a.m. I would check this with the ship personnel to be sure.
