Default Panama Canal Excursions

We have our next cruise planned for 11.08. I have never been down in this area before; so I am not sure what all is offered.

Princess has the ship tours up and I have reserved the tours. The price is over $800 for two. So I am thinking what we can do on our own.

Open to suggestions for shore excursions.

We are not the beach or scuba type folks.

This looks like a transcanal from FLL to LA or San Diego. I've gone the other way once (on the original Crown Princess which was then turned over to the German line) and 6 times on the Coral or Island into and out of Gatun Lake. Aruba - do on your own ... maybe just get off and walk around town - the ship docks right at the town plus you leave very early at 1 PM.

I'll be going to Cartagena this November and will be doing Scenes of Cartagena - was there once before but times were troubling so I didn't go any farther than the customs shed. After that cruise, Princess stopped going to Columbia.

I've been to Limon, Costa Rica many times - did the river thing - disappointing so now I just get off and browse the flea market. Don't know anything about your town.

Been to Huatulco - and just wandered around the little town and went to Mass.

Haven't been to the two other ports.

Perhaps if you told us more about the cruise, such as WHERE you will be stopping, you will get more suggestions.

We took the canal cruise from FLL to SF,CA on the Coral several years and it was a great cruise, sound like they offer some different tours now.

Spoke to some past cruisers said they used recommendations from travel advisor.com and were very pleased.

Default They went that-a-way

We too will be doing the canal in November but then heading south to Ecuador. We did a similar cruise to yours many years ago and believe it or not the most notable thing that comes to mind for Aruba is the Butterfly Farm: http://www.aruba-travelguide.com/butterflyfarm/ If you are the least bit of a nature buff then this can be most pleasing.

The one thing that we did not know about Costa Rica was the coffee . Fellow passenger were loading it aboard for some reason. We have since found out that it's flavour is outstanding. So for our docking in C.R. we will be headed for the coffee markets.

Other than the canal itself which we'll never tire of and these two items that come to mind, all we can do is wish you a great cruise.
