Default New Pillow, Blanket Fees

In-flight napping will cost you. JetBlue announces a new $7 charge for pillows and blankets.

By Samantha Bomkamp, AP

JetBlue Airways Corp. said Monday it is now charging customers for pillows and blankets.

The carrier has done away with the recycled blankets and pillows used on its flights and has started offering an "eco-friendly" travel blanket and pillow that can be purchased for $7 on flights longer than two hours. The pair come in a kit with a $5 coupon to home furnishings retailer Bed Bath & Beyond.

This is getting unreal...But, I have to say, I have carried a small blow up. neck pillow, and my own small lap robe, for years....they are small enough to put in my carry on of course, and are right at hand when I want them.

I just found out my air went down last night and Continental said too bad, so I am on an, airline rant right now:(

What's next you say ??
Remember in World War 2 they had glider planes? They would take plywood, outfit them to some semblance of a plane --cram them full of troops and hook them to a real plane, loaded with troops, then when they were within the area they were supposed to be, they would just release the gliders and ---good luck guys !
Can you see Delta taking off in a 767 towing a plywood box full of wide eyed folks on the way to Maimi for a cruise--circle the airport a couple of times, cut'er loose and then head to Ft. Lauderdale to land, hoping the ones in the cheapseats in the glider got down safely somewhere near the airport, or maybe even close to the ship !! Now that's a cost saving idea to think about!!

what do they do with the ones that folks leave behind on the plane? recycle them ( to other passengers)for a fee? toss them in the trash ? Donate them to homeless children?

I'm sure at some point they will get washed and then rented out again and again...

Hey--if the brilliant execs. at the airlines, oil companies and the brains we have in D.C. can come up with hairbrained ideas, why can't the average Joe Schmo come up with a few ??

Default Hey sharky

At least you have a option with the pillow and blanket.

Just imagine if you showed up at the airport with an oversized bag by 4-inches thats weight 51 LBS on a Delta flight.
Delta can demand you pay $230.00.

Some meals cost up to $10 on Delta Flights.

Check out some of the extra cost from different airlines below.

Good info on the chart- I guess I'll have to print that for my cruise planner.

ron, not to far away from where you retired from. Were about 50 outside of St. Louis, in the rural part of the state, but still close enough if we want city life.

The cost of everything has gone up. The price on beer, and photos on board, has gone up. Airpot fees, added fuel cost.

The added cost of food on the plane, and yes even blankets and pillows.

What will be have to pay extra for next?
