Default Casino Question Question

First time cruiser with Princess. Will be on Grand Princess for 14 day Caribbean Extravaganza Collection in Jan 09. I have been told that Princess Lines use tokens vice actual money (coins, bills) in their slot machines. Is this true? If true, where do you get the tokens? And if true, how do the slots pay? tokens? script to be turned in? Appreciate all answers.

Actually, you can use your cruise card from machine to machine and when you cash out you get tokens. If you use the cashier to purchase tokens, they charge a service fee. There are people in the casino and they will sit with you and show you how to work the machines.

In the beginning of the cruise you can set up an account on your cruise card. You do not have to purchase tokens. All the slot machines accept bills and if you win you can put the amount of your winnings on your cruise card. Once the cash is on your cruise card you can either go to another machine and use it there or go to the cashiers cage and get the cash. The charge of 3% that was referred to by the last poster is only if you charge the money to your cruise account. She made it sound like they were charging you 3% to use your own money. You can also play without setting up the account on your cruise card and IF you win you just take the tokens to the cashier and they will count them for you and give you good old US dollars. Notice the big IF, the slots are very tight on any cruise ship.

OK. Thanks for the answers. Jim, I know that all the ships slots are tight. It is just one of the things that I really enjoy when I cruise. Have been lucky the last 3 cruises so maybe the luck will continue. Again, thanks for the help. Thom

I don't know if the ships are different, but the cashier told us that if we used her to purchase tokens, via cash or cruise card, she would have to charge us 3%. Thus, we used our cruise card at the slot machines. We weren't charged anything to cash them in to collect our winnings.

You must of misunderstood the cashier. The 3% charge is only when you get money charged to your cruise account. Besides that there is absolutely NO reason that you would have to buy tokens from the cashier, all the machines accept US bills. All the Princess ships operate on the same system.
