Default Princess Alaska Cruisetour NB6

Howdy fellow cruisers!

Has anyone been on the Cruisetour? I'm thinking of 6 days on land. 2 at Fairbanks, 2 at Denali, and 2 at Mount McKinley. I really want to experience as much as I can and would rather do it in one shot instead of returning. (not that I won't want to )

I'm going it alone, and although I love kids I'd rather avoid a boat load of misbehavers. If I went on land August 23, ending with cruise, would I be avoiding the kid crowd? I just want to relax.

Any suggestions would be a blessing.

Sweet Sailing

I just returned from a cruisetour to Alaska starting with the cruise on July 21st. Yes there were children on board but I don't remember them causing any problems.

Peg:

You would be going at a splendid time. We have sailed twice to Alaska, first time was at the end of August and the 2nd time was Sept 1. There were hardly any children on the ship and the ones that were aboard were very well-behaved. If I encountered 10 kids the whole trip that would be a lot. Enjoy!

That would be a great time to go if you want to avoid children, as many schools will be back in session by the end of your cruise.

That said, you might want to consider renting a car and reserving your own hotels in Alaska rather than buying the land tour portion from Princess. The cruise lines' land tours are quite expensive, and Alaska does a great job of maintaining the main roads.

Norm.

Thanks Norm.

I guess I'm looking for a little security and an escorted tour, where I don't have to think about when/where I'm going to next. And if I'm late for my ship, guess who's fault that would be

I kind of like the fact of having the same tour guide throughout my land tour, and not worrying about meals (most included).

While I agree I could do it cheaper, for me, being on vacation is not worrying about transfers, lodging, renting cars, paying for gas, meals, tipping, etc.

Other places I have gone to, I actually enjoyed traveling by motorcoach. Most times the drivers are very friendly and knowledgeable. I can ask many questions on the way and learn about different cultures. Meeting new people on tours like this is also fun.

Another thing that turned me 'on' to the tour were the excursions that were included.

As they say, to each their own. It's a personal choice.

I am interested if you have taken the NB6 tour yourself. Pro's? Con's?

Not booked yet,
and looking for info,

Just got off of Star Princess on Sunday which was the 24th and while there were kids, they were NOT a problem. There were not as many as you'd find on a Caribbean cruise, so I would go ahead and go with that time frame.
