Default Wind Difference?

Balcony towards bow or stern is there a wind difference or any other appreciable difference?

Much more wind the further forward your cabin is.

Realy? So since were towards the back of the ship, I think on the Crown Princess R605. We should have less wind? Cool

In fact some balcony cabins actually face forward or slightly forward. Some lines lock the balcony door so you cannot go out when the ship is at sea. They will open the balcony door while in port.

What good is it to have a balcony if you can't go out on them?

It is either that or face the odds of getting blown overboard.

But yes, a waste of a balcony. Should have gotten an ocean view.

I just had a forward cabin, wind didn't seem to be a problem, it was much worse up on the pool deck.

Donna, I am talking about the first two cabins all the way forward. Different decks have different characteristics as well as ship to ship.

How was Alaska?

If the balcony faces forward, it probably will be pretty breezy because the ship's motion generates about 20-30 MPH of apparent headwind depending upon speed. If it faces the side of the ship, the partitions between balconies do a pretty good job of blocking the wind. If it faces aft, it's in the lee of the superstructure.

Norm.

Never been that close to the bridge, but we like our cabins around mid-ship. Never had a wind problem. Very good info to know.
Thanks.
