Default Onboard accounts

I am a first time cruiser leaving next Sunday. To ensure I don't spend a fortune on board I want to set up an onboard account by paying with cash and not credit card. When printing my boarding pass, I was required to provide a credit card number. Do I need to sign the boarding pass to gain entry to the ship or can I set up the cash account when I get on the ship?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thx.

You can put a cash deposit on your cruise account.
They will request a deposit a deposit of approx 500 US$ per person.
When you start to run short , they will ask you to put more cash on
account. Why not leave the CC and check your balance periodically
and pay it off on a regular basis.

I'm partial to the credit card.

If anything goes wrong or you are inappropriately charged, the credit card company can take care of it for you.

On some cards, travel insurance is free. But I will always purchase enough insurance to thoroughly cover me, especially for long trips.

Sweet Sailing!

You can always pay your account in cash at the end of the cruise. We did that and used up the last of our travellers cheques.
They will be happy to take your money in any form!
