Default Cruise Pricing

From today's paper...

Economy sinks cruise prices in Alaska

ECONOMY | Summer savings of up to 40% to combat drop

Last year, the cheapest Alaska cruise offered by the major lines was $799 plus fees, according to the Alaska Tourism Industry Association.
This winter, Princess Cruises is offering summer cruises for as low as $475 plus fees.

I'm looking at a Princess cruise for September 12th and see prices for $359 plus taxes for past passengers.

Parrot Mom,

NH here, in the heat of August, you might reconsider.

Sweet Sailing!

Default Alaska in the Summer

NO WAY, No, WAY, NO HOW!!! If I want to see whales and I've seen them off the coast of MA at least three times. If I want to cool off I can take a cruise up to Portland, Halifax, Bar Harbor...or sit on my deck on my wooded lot and watch the deer, squirrels, wild turkeys and chipmunks cavorting. Give me a warm day in Bermuda (by cruise ship), or the tropics where I can run into an a/c room or a swimming pool.. SNOW AND ICE.. I just have to look at the one foot plus of snow on top of my bird baths right now..Maybe after my Amazon trip in April and my t/a from Rome and a t/a from the UK..and I run out of places..then maybe..lol

As to destinations, we are Canadian and the last thing in the world we want to see more of is snow covered mountains.....ever.

But I was only drawing our attention to the fact that prices are coming down, at least for some cruises, ours excluded, unfortunately, at least for now. But we can live in hope of an eventual rebate...

Different strokes for different people.. sometimes a bargain and the cruises to Alaska are a bargain.. can't be resisted.. Alaska and Hawaii are suffering badly from the lack of ships...Hawaii especially and with the economy the air fare is a killer from the East Coast I'm sure to pick up a cruise to Alaska.. I'd rather fly to Europe... I am so cold in MA today that only a hot tub (which I don't have) and 80 degrees and many more sweaters in the house will hellp

David & I just booked 6-27 on the Golden, 7 day inside passage.....
We got a guaranteed inside cabin for $499 p.p. plus we each won a $50 gold rush credit which came off of the cruise fare. That's a great deal for high season, week ending July 4th. This fare was only available to past passengers.

In 1999 we did the inside passage on H.A.L. and paid $899 p.p. for a similar cabin and date, go figure.

I live in rainy cold Seattle and grew up in Alaska yet I am still going on an Alaska cruise this summer. Saving the warm trip for the winter.

I live in Florida 12 months a year, and I still don't want any part of Alaska. Yes, I think snow covered mountains are beautiful, and bears and whales are fun to watch, but I grew up in Indiana, and that was enough cold and snow to last me a lifetime. I'll stick to Caribbean and Med cruises, thank you.
