Will be sailing on Crown Princess Jan. 25......expecting shipboard credit of approx. $250....from stock, fuel surcharge refund and TA......
My question for anyone who has experienced something similiar: IF we do not spend all of these credit, will Princess credit our charge account for the remaining balance?
FYI: Sailed 11/30 on Celebrity Solstice and our credit card was credited with our remaining balance....approx. $50.00
Thank you all in advance! This is only the 2nd cruise on which we received s/b credit!
I've heard some say yes they got a credit and other have said no. I don't take a chance and IF there is any left over, I go to the cashier's cage and ask for any remaining OBC. There is a 3% charge for this type transaction. Some people have said there is a way to get it through the slot machines after you set up a slot machine account but I haven't done it that way yet. On one cruise I had about $4.30 OBC remaining. Bought 3 candy bars and ended up owing Princess 50 cents - which they promplty charge to my Visa card.
In their first announcement of rescinfing the fuel surcharge they stated "If guests do not use all of the shipboard credit, they can receive the balance after the cruise" whatever that means. Your best bet is to get a printout on the last day then go to the casino and take it out in cash paying the 3%.
We have been on the Grand, Sapphire and Diamond and each time we were told that any shipboard credit not used would be lost. We don't really know since on the last couple of days we just "blew" the whole amount in photos.
IF YOU PUT THE CASINO CREDIT ON YOUR CRUISE CARD BY WAY OF A SLOT MACHINE YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAY THE 3% CHARGE. IT IS A VERY SIMPLE PROCEDURE AND ANY OF THE CASINO STAFF WILL HELP YOU TO DO IT.
I HAVE HEARD OF PEOPLE GETTING ON BOARD CREDIT REFUNDED AND I HAVE ALSO HEARD "USE IT OR LOSE IT". WHY TAKE A CHANCE, JUST TAKE IT OUT IN THE CASINO VIA A SLOT MACHINE.
JIM..
I believe your tips will go on your account, the credit can almost eat all that up alone, so I can't see you not using that amount of credit during your cruise.
i doubt you will have any thing left, when you consider the gratutities that are added on each day and if you have any sort of bar bill, or any other charges.

First of all I do hope you mean January 23rd, because on Jan. 25th the Crown will be in Grand Cayman.
Assuming you spend nothing else other than your tips, you will have $103.00 left over. Just go to the casino cage (don't wait until the last day), ask for $100, they will charge you $103.00 and VOILA! I never mind paying the 3% because it's still 97% "found money."
I think it depends on the source of the OBC. If it is part of a promotion then it is usually use it or lose it. If it is for $ spent by somebody (pax or TA) you should get it back. Unless you have already made final payment you should see the fuel charge disappear from your final payment.

Green:
You've hit the nail on the head. There are "refundable credits" and "non-refundable credits". As Green stated: If it's part of a promotion then it is not refundable (you won't get cash back). If your TA or someone actually "purchased" and OBC for you then it's refundable. This is why some folks have told "Use it or lose it" and others have received refunds.
Most "non-refundable credits" cannot be used for gratuities or the casino.
Take care,
Mike

Don't forget you will have gratuities added to your account. Last I heard it is $10.50 per person per day. Thus for two people on a 7 night cruise, you will be paying $147. The remainder is $103. Most people are likely to buy something or a few cocktails, etc.
You could always buy something in the gift stores to give as gifts when you return home. I doubt many people would have much left over from a $250 onboard credit. But that is just me.
