Default Embarkation in San Juan--Caribean Princess

Two questions:
1. I have read about more than one set of piers that the cruise ships dock at, which ones will I find the Caribean Princess at?
2. I am planning on being in San Juan a day or two before my cruise and would like to find someplace decent and affordable to stay that is reasonably close to the pier, any suggestions?

There is a Sheridan in Old San Juan, right across from the pier. I belive Princess will not be at the pier in Old San Juan, but still a short taxi ride away.

from dec to after Easter there is no such thing as an inexpensive or moderate priced hotel in Fl or San Juan. What do you call reasonable?

Default Reasonable as defined by me

In a tourist area during high season, I'd call reasonable under $200 a night. I'd rather not stay in a chain, but someplace with a little character where you get a feel for the native culture.

Just came off the CB Dec 8th. We were docked at the Pan Am Pier. Please check with the line as this changes from time to time. There's not much available near the Pan Am pier. For a great price on a room we used priceline. We entered a 4 star and bid $115 dollars and we were offered the La Concha. It normally goes for mare than $250. It was an amazing resort that has just undergone a $400 million redo. It was a good ways from the pier but was only $15 by cab.

I stayed at La Concha in June of 08. I really enjoyed it. Not sure if they are still remodeling, but you can ask the front desk for a room farther away. It was a beautiful place. The ocean/beach front is often red-flagged. The higher your floor, the more beautiful the scenery.

I would stay there again.

ps. I was 'next' to the construction and it didn't bother me at all!

The remodel on the main building is complete. The casino is also open for business. Here is a picture I took of a model they had in the lobby showing what it will look like when complete. They purchased the building to the right and when it's complete it will be all-suites. The main building is done though.

This is aview from the back with La Perla (seashell shaped restaurant) in view.

This is a pic of our room.
