ANTARCTIC CRUISE

Why have the Mainstream cruise lines stopped allowing any excursions that allow you to actually land and walk on the Antarctic Land/Ice masses?

Not too long ago the Marco Polo always landed on Antarctica and you could walk over to see the penguins.

Anybody know the answer?
