Default Buying Euros on Board Ship

We are sailing on the Grand this November to Italy and Greek Isles, with a couple of days in Rome after the cruise. Can anyone tell me what kind of a rate the ship offers in their machines on board and what the service charge is to do this?

The cruise line's have always had ridiculously high rates for currency exchanges onboard.

My advice is to buy some Euros from your bank before the cruise, and use bank ATMs in port during the trip.

Kuki has given you the best answer. One other thing is that the ATM machine onboard will not dispense Euros. They only dispense U.S. Dollars.

You can even use the ATM at the airport, when you land, to get Euros. I did this on my last European cruise and it worked just fine. Just stay away from the "Currency Exchange" booths at the airports. Their charges and exchange rates are terrible.

I also strongly recommend that you only use a "Bank" ATM. You will be able to recognize them fairly easily.

Take care,
Mike
