Default relocation cruise

Any thoughts on a relocation cruise, leaves San Juan 5-2-10 ends in N.Y. 5-9-10. Have never cruised Princess before. All thoughts will be welcome.

Sounds like a decent cruise, any stops before arriving in New York. Do you enjoy lots of "sea" days??

Stops are St. Thomas,Antigua and Bermuda. Having been to all three, I wouldn't complain about any of them. Having sailed mostly on Carnival, I wonder if the switch is for the better.

jlauntz,

Just did the REPO cruise on the Caribbean Princess from NY to San Jaun. I enjoyed the cruise alot, but at this point Carnival edged out Princess on food and service, but that will not keep me from sailing on Princess again, in fact I bought two future Cruise Credits.

I'm working on getting my Platuinum Status on Carnival and once I get it I will start branching out to other cruise lines more often to give them a try.

Happy Cruising
Mark

Marj and I are on the repositioning cruise the OP mentioned. It will be our third on Princess and the second on the Caribbean Princess. It is a great ship and we are looking forward to the cruise. This cruise will be our third port call at St. Thomas, where Marj love$ to $hop, our second in Antigua and our first in Bermuda. We got a great airfare from Newark to San Juan and will fly in the night before (always a good idea) and staying at the Hampton Inn near the San Juan Airport. We will taxi over to Old Town check in at the ship as soon as possible and then spend time exploring Old Town. Sailaway is not until 11 pm so there is plenty of time to see the sights.

Default repo cruises - good value

We'll be on the May 2 repo cruise. Have done the reverse a few years ago and enjoyed it. it is always a great value doing a repo cruise. Especially if one of the ends is your home city/area where only a one way air ticket is necessary.

Cool Repositioning Cruises

In recent years we have discovered repositioning cruises from Europe to the US and find they are a great bargain..On them we find many back to back cruisers and they are the ones often who cruise back to florida their home state or NY.. We did do the last Pacific Princess cruise from Manaus to Ft. Lauderdale and many of the cruisers were Floridians, so for them its a great bargain.. Although we loved the destinations I did not... and t his is sad to say enjoy the people on the cruise, mainly from Florida who acted as of they were the ONLY people who mattered. Besides the ports which were wonderful the other positive were the washing machines.. Frankly, after cruising twice from Miami.. I have sworn never again and would rather cruise from Europe.. That said.. hopefully I can next week book the Soltice from Ft. Lauderdale. Of the ports you have mentioned.... defin. Bermuda is a delight..St. Thomas..wall to wall ships and cruisers buying jewelry and electronics and Antigua...well just beware... isn't that the port that has had some problems..Yes, we were there but it is a port i wouldn't go off myself unless on a ships tour...

While my only cruises have been on Princess and Carnival, I find Princess far and away better than Carnival. Food quality much better, cabins of a higher quality and fewer kids to name a few. In addition, the early and late production shows on Princess give everyone, regardless of dinner seating, an opportunity to see the show. Sorry to say, I think the Princess crowds are a little bit more upscale too. Maybe if we weren't "dinks", I might feel differently.
