Default Our First Cruise, questions about Ft Laud Port area

We have booked at April 4, 2010 Princess Emerald cruise to the Eastern Caribbean and have lot of questions. Regarding the Ft lauderdale port area, is there a grocery/liquor store within walking distance of the port. We are do to arrive at FLL about 4 hours before departure time, and have the cruiseline transfer. Is their a place to get supplies before getting on the ship.

NO, I am sorry but there isn't any place to buy liquor unless it is in the airport (and I don't recall any shops selling wine or bottles to go there). Also, once you are inside the port area you are not within walking distance of a store - at all.

Your only choice would be to take a taxi to the nearby Publix (grocery store). That would cost you about $8 each way - and be sure to take your passport & cruise documents because you will have to go through security again to return to the port area.

From the "What it's Worth Dept", here is a link to the Port Everglades site. Paul is spot-on, though.

Just a note, although your flight is scheduled to arrive 3 hours before your cruise, if any delays, etc. you will not have lots of time. Its nice in Ft. Lauderdale that the port is so close to the airport, but allow time for picking up luggage and getting to your bus.

Another person indicated that there may be a walgreens with a liquor dept.on the corner of eisenhower where it turns into the port. Said this might be within a mile of the Princess pier. can anyone confirm this?

what about the walgreens on the corner of the port entrance, is that within walking distance, someone mentioned that you can pick up some wine and water there. Can you confirm that?
