Question Understanding classes AB better than AD?

When booking my room on the Carribean Princess, I thought AB would be better than AD class rooms. I was assigned to the Dolphin deck (D624), and on the ship plan, the AD rooms look better than the AB room. I am 4 months pregnant, and this will be my last vacation for a loooong time, so hoping to make the best of it.

Carribean Princess Deck Plans

Questions:
Is AB better than AD?
If familiar with the ship, are mini suite balconies on Dolphin deck any good?
If really really familiar with the ship, am I in a good spot?
If not a good room, how likely is Princess to change assignments if I call?

Thanks friends!

My guess is the beginning of the alphabet (AA, AB, etc) cabins are on a more desirable location, mid ship.

The Dolphin deck has a completely open balcony (no roof), Caribe is half-covered but still the same size deck. The Baja and Aloha decks are half the balcony size and are completely covered. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong. I'm cruising on her in June on the Dolphin deck but have never sailed that particular ship before.

It looks like you have a good location, half way between the elevators and close to the laundromat!

Not sure when you're sailing. I would call Princess and ask if you can have a different room, if you desire.

Have a great time!

Thanks Peg! I cruise in May, so feel free to ping me for details at the end of May! I think the full sized balconies with half covered decks sound good. I am a bit of an introvert though

It is my mistake for not telling you that only Ocean view cabins with balconies are on Caribe deck. It appears Dolphin deck is dedicated to mini-suites.

This was a tough decision for me, booking a minisuite with no cover, or, a balcony cabin on Caribe with half-cover. But on the good side, I'll just have to book another trip with a balcony on Caribe!

Don't worry, you'll have a great time.

Is "pg restrictions" pregnancy restrictions? If so, I make the cut by 2 weeks

I just sailed on the Emerald in D618 (AB class). While AB class are nice rooms, and I LOVED the tub, the balconies offer no privacy whatsoever. The balcony is open to the decks above and offers no shade. I booked an AD class room on the Crown (E730) for next year. I like the idea of a covered balcony. The advantage of D624 is that it is away from the elevators and doesn't face any inside rooms (low traffic area). Enjoy the mini-suite. They are very roomy!

I am on the June 5 run of Carribean Princess. Looks like no privacy this trip but I was offered a mini suite and the upgrade I just got was a handicap room an that gives me 35% more room I am told. Well I am in AB D308. so that looks like near the elevator mid ships port.

Lancers2,

That is a great upgrade. Near the elevators is a great location.
The AB cabins tend to be more mid-ship and therefore less motion from the sea.
